Brandywine Beer Festival

Some of the highs (and lows) from Iron Hill's Brandy Wine Beer Festival.

DOCK STREET
- Sexual Chocolate: Yummy! (A)

GENERAL LAFAETTE
- These guys SUCK! They really offended us and we dont care what their beer tastes like. We have vowed to never buy/drink their beer!!!

IRON HILL
- Belgian Whit: Wheaty protien flavor. (A)

LANDCASTER
- Pilsner: Very clean and crisp. Somewhat sweet. (A-)

MCKENZIE
- Shipwreck (Red Ale): Good maltiness. Pronounced flavors. (B)

ROCK BOTTOM
- Pilsner: (B)

- IPA: (B-)

TROGS
- Pilsner: Bitter. Not so great. (D)

TRIUMPH
- Love Potion #9: Sooo good. My favorite of the day! (A+)

VICTORY
- Whirl Wind: The best way I could find to describe this is that it tastes the way brewing smells, which I happen to like. (A-)

Catching on our ratings...

We have not been keeping up with our beer reviews. Therefore, I have an entire list of stuff to discuse.

WEIHENSTEPHANER
- Korbinian (Double Bok): Nutty and great. Joe refers to this one as "pope beer" due to the picture of a pope on the bottle.

- Kristal Weissbier: Good, but not great. Clean taste.

HEAVY SEAS
- Red Sky at Night (Saison): Pretty good. Very sweet.

- Peg Leg (Imperial Stout): Not crazy about this one.

LAGUNITAS
- Gnarly Wine: We liked this one. Darker and not as strong as the usual barley wines.

- Maximus (IPA): Very hoptastic. A little sweet. Joe is a big fan.

- Brown Shugga (Brown Ale/Barley Wine): Strong. It will knock you on your ass! And we mean that in a good way. Also, it's cheap. We rate this Best Bang for Your Buck.

FLYING DOG
- Kerberos Triple: Great!

DOG FISH
- Burton Baton: Amazingly I liked this one, and its an IPA! Very oaky flavor.

- Immurt Ale: "Holy carp, good! The best" - Joe.

- Aprihop: Pretty good. I don't think it's as good as Pyramid Apricot however. It has some bitterness to it.

VICTORY
- Storm King (Stout): It's been a while since we tried this, but we both remember liking it.

SAM ADAMS
- Irish Red: Ehhh...ok.

MAGIC HAT
- #9: Ok, but it's over-rated.

WEYERBACHER
- Merry Monk: Refreshing. Thats all we remember about it.
